Location and transport

Find out about our location and transport details to make getting to school safe and easy.

Our school is located at:

Wetherell Crescent,

Cobar NSW 2835

Cobar High School has two entry points. These are both located on Wetherell Crescent.

·  The Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) entrance – opposite Rankin Street – is for staff and service vehicles only. To ensure student safety, it is not to be used by visitors or students during school hours.

·  The Main Entrance – opposite Madden Street – leads directly to the administration block.

Parking - there is ample room for parking along Mopone Street and Woodiwiss Avenue. Please refrain from parking near the main entrance as this section of Wetherell becomes easily congested and visibility restricted. Student parking on school grounds is prohibited.

There is a pedestrian crossing near the corner of Woodiwiss Avenue and Wetherell Crescent.

All students riding to school must wear an approved helmet. We recommend students bring a lock to secure bikes/scooters during class time.

School buses pick up and drop off students at the service gates located on Mopone Street opposite Monaghan Street.

A teacher is on duty from 8:30am every morning to supervise students and therefore, students should not be on site until this time.

Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Keep our school community safe by:

  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • being a good role model
  • never calling your child from across the road
  • using the safest place to cross the road.

Subsidised school travel

Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.

  • The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
  • The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.
